Halliwells Tackles Climate Change

Law firm Halliwells has joined the Legal Sector Alliance (LSA), an initiative aimed at tackling climate change in the legal profession.

The LSA is a movement of law firms and organisations committed to working collaboratively to take action on climate change by reducing their carbon footprint and adopting environmentally friendly sustainable practices.

By joining the LSA, Halliwells will be adopting the following principles:

- Measure, manage and reduce the impact of its operations

- Work with external stakeholders to reduce the firm's indirect impact

- Integrate awareness of climate change across the business

- Consider the implications of climate change in the advice the firm provides

- Work collaboratively to engage in the public debate on climate change and to develop, apply and promote best practice across the sector

- Report on progress and be accountable

Said Halliwells partner, Jim Bryant:

"By taking positive action in a few key areas such as carbon footprinting, minimising resource use, engaging employees and working with suppliers, firms can individually demonstrate their environmental responsibility, and collectively the legal sector can make a significant contribution to addressing climate change."
