Halliwells Instructed On Allports Administration

Law firm Halliwells has been appointed to advise the joint administrators of Allsports (Retail) Limited.

BDO Stoy Hayward LLP, was appointed Joint Administrators of Allsports Limited, Allsports (Retail) Limited and Allsports.co.uk Limited on 26th September 2005.

Halliwells' team is being led by national head of corporate recovery, Andrew Buchanan and corporate recovery partner Gavin Jones.

Allsports is one of Britain�s leading sports goods retailers with over 260 stores nationwide employing approximately 1,500 staff.

Following recent press speculation, a share sale of Allsports did not take place and the business faces a very difficult trading position.

Commenting on the instruction, Andrew Buchanan said:

"This is the latest in a long line of high profile instructions for our corporate recovery team. Lawyers from our Manchester and London offices will be working closely with the joint administrators as we look to achieve the best possible outcome for all concerned."
