Training contract
Our training contract is structured into five seats of approximately five-months each. This structure provides you with the opportunity to undertake work in more areas of the practice and, at the same time, ensures each seat is long enough to give you valuable experience.
To assist you in making a seamless transition from trainee to newly qualified solicitor, we aim to place you in the department where you would like to qualify, for your fifth and final seat.
In every seat, you will be allocated a Supervising Partner and a Daily Supervisor who will help you develop to your full potential. At the start of each seat, you will discuss your development objectives with your Supervisor, in the middle of the seat you will have an Appraisal meeting to review progress and at the end of the seat you will have a Seat Review to discuss areas of focus for the remainder of the training contract. In every area, we support, challenge and encourage you to be the best that you possibly can be.
Halliwells’ trainee solicitors are valuable members of every team they join. Our trainees are legal professionals and are treated as such. They use their initiative, they get involved and they deliver work of the highest standards.
We also provide our trainee solicitors with the opportunity to be seconded to clients’ in house legal departments as one of their seats. This allows the trainees to enhance their commercial awareness and experience matters from a client perspective.
We have two trainee intakes each year. As we operate a five seat rotation during our training contract, starting dates for each intake will vary from year to year. We are currently accepting applications for training contracts commencing in August 2012 and January 2013. The deadline for applications is 31 July 2010.
