Trainee Ian Bean

Ian Bean

Second Year Trainee Solicitor, Corporate Recovery, London

1. What is the most intellectually challenging piece of work you have done?

answer iconThe key role I was given in a business acquisition for one of our clients. I had the responsibility of drafting the sale and purchase agreement and shareholders agreement, as well as liaising with the client and obtaining instructions from him.

2. What are you working on at the moment?

answer iconDrafting a Bankruptcy Petition for a failed Individual Voluntary Arrangement (in the Corporate Recovery department). I have also been asked to draft a Power of Attorney for a client.

3. Describe your most interesting client experience.

answer iconNegotiating a commercial property lease for one of our clients from start to finish. Whilst the consideration involved in this particular lease was not as high as other deals in the department, the same principles applied, negotiating, people skills, understanding of the process, amongst other things.

4. What has been your most memorable experience (funny, embarassing, scary etc)?

answer iconAttending court and making submissions to a judge in relation to an application for possession of a leasehold property. Whilst I must admit the prospect of appearing before a judge was rather daunting, it provided me with invaluable experience, which I have taken into other areas of my development as a solicitor

5. What have you enjoyed the most?

answer iconBeing in constant direct contact with a number of clients, solicitors and agents etc. Being an integral part of every team I have worked in. Various opportunities to build on client development skills.
